Bodegas Salva in Rioja Alta is a new project set up by the next generation of the Urbina family led by the young team of winemakers, teachers and brothers, Angel, Santiago and Pedro Urbina. The Urbina brothers decided to launch the project 'Salva' in memory of their grandfather, Salvador. Bodegas Salva was created to meet the market needs which Bodegas Urbina would be unable to do without radically changing the philosophy of its winemaking, and hence the two projects work very well alongside each other while still maintaining their own individuality and identity. The three brothers bring with them not only an in-depth knowledge and heritage from their winemaking family background, but also practical teaching skills acquired at MasterViteno in Madrid where both Angel and Santiago are also lecturers. They also have gained great experience in listening to the needs of importers, distributors, retailers and wine lovers from all over the world. The result is a heart-based project offering all the independent wine shops in the world high quality premium wines competitively priced. Bodegas Salva has 5 hectares in Rioja Alta with a selection of several clones of Tempranillo, grown in three soil types of Rioja Alta: ferrous clay (red clay), calcareous clay (white clay) and stony alluvial (Cascajos). All seek greater complexity and elegance in the wine. Bodegas Salva has the capacity to produce 20,000 bottles Crianza and 4,000 Reserva.
