An estate which dates back to the 18th century, but had previously ceased wine production in 1903. Bought by Baron Bruemmer (originally from the old Baltic state of Livonia), first to breed Arab thoroughbreds, and later on reviving wine production, including the legendary DOC of Colares.

Located along the southwestern Atlantic coast, vineyards in the area are protected from the strong ocean winds by sandy dunes. The sand based soils have also had the benefit of keeping the phylloxera louse at bay and have some of the oldest ungrafted vines in the world.
