A beautifully ripe nose leads to a rounded seamless palate of ripe herbaceous red fruits. Such a long smooth finish but still has a balanced tannic structure that suggests the wine will age further. Nature brought a ferocious storm to the vineyards in late November stripping the vines of much of their fruit and leaves. The resulting crop was inevitably small but delivered fantastic concentration and flavours that only low yields can provide.

The grapes were destemmed into traditional open fermentors and covered until the wild yeast began their fermenation some 5 days later. Punching down was balanced with pump-overs to achieve the desired extraction and the wine was basket pressed into well tempered large and small format French oak for some 23 months. Bottled unfiltered and unfined in February 2012. This bottle has been sealed with a technical cork which the research indicates will eliminate cork taint and protect the wine as it ages.
