Amarone Classico 3CRU is made from hand-picked grapes from our three Cru vineyards of Calcarole, Pojega & Rovereti. After the grape drying period the wine undergoes a long fermentation followed by three years matured in oak and is normally released in the 4th year following harvest. In only its 2nd vintage (2012) 3CRU won Best Amarone at the Decanter World Wine Awards and vintages since have received multiple accolades from the international press. Expectations were already high for the 2016 and the results merit the vintage, full of ripe, dark fruit and spice, this is a silky smooth 3CRU with plenty of weight and concentration but all the time maintaining balance and freshness. 40% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, and 10% Barbera

In 1649 Carlo Rizzardi from Toscolano Maderno arrived in Valpolicella and bought the property of Pojega with the nearby vineyards of Calcarole and the estate of Rovereti added later. He built the cellar of Pojega and produced the first Rizzardi labels in 1678. Later in 1783 Antonio Rizzardi created the garden of Pojega, still famous in the world for the wonderful perspectives of its design “all’italiana” and for its renowned theatre in Boxwood and for Villa Rizzardi, restored later in the 1850’s.
