Ruby Dum & Tawny Dee are twins. Both are made from the same base wine, the only difference is the way they are raised over a 5 year period. Ruby Dum is bottle matured (as is vintage port) leaving the wine a vibrant ruby colour and with flavours of ripe red fruits. Tawny Dee is casked matured developing a brownish colour and flavours of nuts and orange peel.

From wacky maverick to the highest profile and most respected winemaker in the Douro Valley, Dirk Niepoorts journey has been a long one, even if it has been in a pretty short time. .

We suggest you forget about the meaningless designations of category and type imposed by outdated regulation, and just take each Niepoort Port on its own merits. Let them lift your spirits and spark your imagination. They are like no other Fine Fortified Wines!
